How are tax, tip, and total computed?

Tax amount = subtotal × tax% ÷ 100, tip amount = subtotal × tip% ÷ 100, total = subtotal + tax + tip. All inputs must be non‑negative decimals; this assumes tip is calculated on the pre-tax subtotal (common convention, but not universal).

Does the decimal separator matter?

This calculator uses plain decimal numbers. If a result looks wrong, check whether you used a comma instead of a dot (or vice versa) where the field expects one.
