Intensity ratio

I₂/I₁ = (d₁/d₂)² point-source model.

FAQ

What intensity ratio is computed?

For a point-source inverse-square model, intensity scales as 1/d², so I₂/I₁ ≈ (d₁/d₂)² for two positive distances in the same unit. This ignores medium absorption, finite source size, and beam patterns.

Does the decimal separator matter?

This calculator uses plain decimal numbers. If a result looks wrong, check whether you used a comma instead of a dot (or vice versa) where the field expects one.
